Our Favorite Hikes (to Get out of the House!)
Social distancing doesn’t mean you have to isolate yourself indoors!
Taking a solo hike (or a long walk!) is a great way to get out of the house without putting yourself or others at risk.
Here are our favorite hikes to enjoy some fresh air while still practicing social distancing.

Oregon is an outdoor lover’s dream.
With many varying climates ranging from thick forests to desert-like environments, the state is a mecca for beautiful hikes.
We love the hike to Wahclella Falls. This two-mile round trip is perfect for beginners or those who don’t want to commit an entire day to hike. This easily accessible trail is a great place to go after exploring Portland, or in the morning to start your day off! Make sure to bring $5.00 for the trail fee + a camera for selfies!

Asheville, NC is a no-brainer for outdoor adventures. With the Blue Ridge Parkway and portions of the Application Trail, it’s no wonder that the city tops our list for having some of the best hikes in the nation.
We recommend checking out the Asheville Botanical Gardens Trails. This urban oasis is a great way to enjoy the outdoors without having to leave the city. The half-mile loop showcases native plant species, offers benches to take breaks, and historic buildings that add to the beauty of the scenery!

Ithaca, NY
Everyone should visit Ithaca, NY at least once in their lives. This stunning upstate city is filled with gorgeous vistas thanks to its plethora of gorges.
While in town, we suggest heading to Robert H. Treman State Park. This park is one of Ithaca’s most-visited attractions for good reason - it’s filled with multiple trails options, waterfalls, and streams! While there, consider taking the popular Gorge Trail - a 1.5-mile hike that flows through 12 waterfalls, including the famous 115 foot Lucifer Falls! It’s important to note, that this trail is closed during the winter months. You can also head northwest to Taughannock Falls State Park to see the epic Taughannock Falls which plunge 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet!

Minneapolis is a hidden gem for all things outdoor. Often overlooked by its midwestern neighbor, Chicago, the city still offers many perks including its restaurant scene, friendly people, and killer hikes!
For a less-intense option to stretch your legs, we recommend taking a long walk along Mill Ruins Park. Located downtown, this city park is a great place to witness the incredible ruins of former flour mills along the Mississippi River. Listed as a National Historic District, the park has conducted several archeological digs and is a great place to learn more about the history of Minneapolis!
